The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has been honored with the award for women, peace and security by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, an international appreciation given to women leaders for their role in strengthening peace and democracy. At the official ceremony, Osmani said that this award is dedicated to the people of Kosovo and especially women who have been a key part in the country’s journey to freedom.
“This is a special honor that I share with all the women of Kosovo, who boldly and devotedly helped build peace,” she said during her speech.
The President also recalled the women who participated in protests, the war and the establishment of post -conflict institutions. She mentioned mothers who still expect news for their missing relatives, as well as survivors who never gave up the search for justice. Osmani said this award is also for young girls who today move forward with vision and confidence.
She stressed that peace and democracy in Kosovo were built on the sacrifice of women who did not surrender. Price for women, peace and security is given annually for personalities that have significantly influenced the empowerment of women in society. The appreciation for Vjosa Osman was considered a recognition of its role in the region in promoting equality and human rights.
At this price, it ranks among the names that have contributed beyond the borders of their country. According to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Osman is an example of democratic leadership and devotion to peace. This assessment is also considered as a message for the importance women have in building a safer and fairer world.
