Lukashenko told Putin about the Oresnik missiles, he will get them next year

“I would like to publicly request that the new weapon systems, especially the Orešnik, be deployed on the territory of Belarus,” Lukashenko said, according to the TASS agency. “We have certain places where they can be, and the only condition is that the targets for these weapons are set by the military and political leadership of Belarus,” he said.

Putin was not opposed and, according to the agency, said that the Orešnik missiles will be included in the armament of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus simultaneously.

“Orešnik missiles will be able to be deployed in Belarus in the second half of next year in view of increasing serial production,” he added. At the same time, however, he pointed out that even before the missiles are deployed, it will be necessary to resolve a number of technical issues, primarily to determine the minimum range with regard to ensuring the security of Belarus.

“Orešnik in Belarus will be part of the complex of strategic missile forces of the Russian armed forces, and the costs of its deployment will be minimal,” said the head of the Kremlin, reminding that in the case of group use of the orešnik, their power is similar to that of a nuclear weapon, but without radiation.

All forces and means

The Belarusian-Russian agreement on security guarantees stipulates mutual obligations in the defense of the sovereignty, independence and constitutional establishment of Russia and Belarus, in ensuring the territorial integrity and external borders of the joint statehood.

According to Putin, all forces and means can be used to fulfill these tasks, including Russian tactical nuclear weapons deployed in Belarus. “The conditions for the use of nuclear weapons are determined by the nuclear doctrine,” he concluded.

Putin lowered the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons in it a few months ago. Russia can now use them, for example, if it is attacked by a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear power.

Just hype. Experts question the Russian data on the Orešnik missile

Russia fired a rocket at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro at the end of November in retaliation for the deployment of Western ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles. At that time, Putin described the Russian ballistic missile as a completely new weapon, which is not just a variant of older Soviet missiles. He declared that this hypersonic rocket has no competition and cannot be shot down in any way.

Some experts point out that it may not be a completely newly developed missile, as Putin claims. In this context, they often mention the RS-26 Rubež missile, which is based on the RS-24 Jars, known as Topol-MR. Ukrainian intelligence, in turn, stated that the rocket is a Kedr mobile system.
