Defense Minister Ejup Macedonia has announced that the Kosovo Security Forces have been equipped with US Aerovironment Drone RQ-20 Puma procured by the United States of America.
“The Ministry of Defense has made the Procurement of Unmanned Pilot Pilot “Puma” from the US through a state -to -state program known as Foreign Military Sale (FMS). Payment for this system was made in 2021”He wrote on Facebook.
Macedonia further writes on social networks that drones are another capacity needed to increase the KSF’s skills in the field of unmanned air systems.
“Cooperation with the US in the field of defense is constantly deepening and expanding by contributing to the development of our army as well as to achieving the common interests of our two countries”He writes.
Earlier it was reported that Kosovo has requested 40 total drones of the Puma Long Endurance model. The unmanned vehicle is equipped with infrared cameras and laser lamps, and has the ability to stay in the air more than 6 hours with separate batteries. It is learned that these drones are used by US troops in Kosovo within the KFOR peacekeeping mission to observe the country’s borders.
