This Sunday, (October 12), the citizens of Kosovo turn to the ballot boxes to elect the mayors and members of the 38 municipalities of the country.
2,025,105 voters within the territory of Kosovo are expected to exercise their right to vote, while 43,993 citizens are registered to vote by post from abroad.
All polling stations are opened at 07:00 and will remain open until 19:00.
The Kosovo Police, the State Prosecutor’s Office, the Electoral Panel on Appeals and Disputes, the Kosovo Judicial Council and the Independent Media Commission will be involved in the progress of the process.
According to the CEC, 38 voting centers for bail will be opened today, with a total of 54 polling stations. Conditional voting is allowed only within the municipality where the voter is registered.
The total number of citizens with the right to vote is 2,069,098.
These elections are attended by a total of 93 political entities – 32 political parties, 2 coalitions, 32 civic initiatives and 27 independent candidates.
The total number of certified candidates is 5,624, 205 for mayors and 5,419 for municipal assemblies.
Meanwhile, new voters are 33,540, while 26,654 are 18-year-olds who vote for the first time.
