The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) has opened applications for the 4th edition of the Butterfly Innovation Regional Price, which estimates the most influential proposals of innovators from the Western Balkans. The best ideas in each of the six categories will receive a reward of up to 5,000 EUR.
Applications for new individuals or teams from the Western Balkans are permissible up to two of the six categories:
- Industry innovation (automotive, metal processing, creative industry, agri -food, green and circulating economy, tourism, as well as fintech, Edtech, Botech, Healthtech and similar fields);
- Green innovation (climate action, sustainable energy, mobility and agriculture, pollution, protection of nature and biodiversity);
- Innovation in the stem (science, technology, engineering and mathematics);
- Youth innovation (for university students at bachelor level or high school students);
- University innovation (for university entrepreneurial culture);
- Women’s innovation (for innovative and entrepreneurial women).
Applications are open and accepted until October 8, 2025, at midnight. Butterfly award winners will be announced in November 2025.
Inaugurated in 2022, the butterfly innovation price has become a regional platform to evaluate originality and progress. This year’s edition continues to promote the economic development of the Western Balkans by embracing digital transformation, promoting environmental sustainability and promoting the culture of innovation.
In the first three editions, the Butterfly award has known 18 innovative solutions from the entire Western Balkans.
