The murder of the girl took place in the Esplugues de Llobregat district of Barcelona, where the upper middle class lives and where, for example, some of the elite schools are located. According to the information available to the elPeriodico website, the perpetrator was extremely aggressive and threw stones at people and houses before he attacked the woman.
He chose the victim at random, stabbed her several times with a large knife in the middle of the street, and even cut her. When neighbors rushed to her aid, he injured several of them. People said he shouted Allahu akbar during the attacks.
Twelve hours later, another knife murder took place in the center of Barcelona. Around midnight, a man was stabbed by a minor boy, who later died of his injuries in the hospital. The attacker fled the scene together with his friend, but people chased him. The crowd surrounded him and people threw glass bottles and even a bicycle at him to disarm him.
“There was a lot of shouting, cars honking. I heard people shouting that he had a knife,” a man who watched from a balcony described to the es.ara website. The police arrived a few minutes later and arrested the boy.
On Sunday around 03:30, a third attack took place in Barcelona’s Forum district. A group of unidentified persons injured a young man who was hospitalized. His life is not in danger.
Police officers refuse to release any information about the cases.
While the Catalan government boasts about security, the number of murders is rising sharply. In 2025, more than twenty people have been stabbed so far and violent crime continues to rise, writes the website La Razón.
The statistics of the Catalan police, which fall under the action called Pla Daga (dagger plan), speak clearly. In less than a year, more than 10,000 knives were confiscated, which corresponds to three weapons seized per hour.
