The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Ferit Hoxha, held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Gjuric, within the Diplomatic Forum of Antalya 2026.
In a post on the ‘X’ social network, Minister Hoxha emphasized that the talks were focused on advancing bilateral relations through a constructive dialogue and concrete cooperation.
“Our discussion focused on the advancement of bilateral relations through constructive dialogue and concrete cooperation, with the aim of further strengthening economic and trade ties, assessing their role in promoting sustainable development and regional stability.” writes Minister Hoxha.
Hoxha welcomed Serbia’s willingness to respond to Albania’s request for the opening of a General Consulate in Bujanoc.
“In this context, I welcomed the readiness of Serbia to respond positively to our request for the opening of a General Consulate in Bujanoc”, explains the Albanian chief diplomat further.
The Foreign Minister underlined the need to maintain, deepen and strengthen regional cooperation as the surest path to a common European future, leaving aside unproductive rhetoric.
“I underlined the necessity to maintain, deepen and strengthen regional cooperation as the most reliable path to a common future, leaving aside unnecessary and unproductive rhetoric. Albania remains committed to investing in the clarity of its positions, in the coherence of its foreign policy, as well as in strengthening contacts between people, cultivating a new generation with a clear European vision“, emphasizes Hoxha.
Hoxha reaffirmed Albania’s steadfast position that the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, remains the only sustainable path towards full normalization of relations and mutual recognition – an essential step for sustainable peace and long-term stability in the Western Balkans.
“Also, we admitted that we have fundamentally different positions regarding the Republic of Kosovo. I reaffirmed Albania’s clear and steadfast position on the decisive importance of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, as the only sustainable path towards the full normalization of relations and mutual recognition, as an essential contribution to sustainable peace and long-term stability in the region“, further underlines Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha.
