“Everything is extinguished,” announced finally at a quarter to eight in the morning after a demanding intervention, the spokesman of the Prague fire department, Miroslav Řezáč, who informed about the fire in the roof of the reconstructed building of the municipal district office in Horní Měcholupy before half past five in the morning.

Firefighters from Strašnice, Chodov and Petřin, together with a unit of the Railway Administration and Horní Měcholupa, were responding to the fire in Boloňská Street.

“Additional units were called to the scene, the fire spread to the space between the roofs. We are removing parts of the roof, introducing probes and looking for other hidden foci,” explained Řezáč around six o’clock in the morning. Subsequently, the fire was extinguished.

“A reduction and rotation of units took place on the spot, two units remain here as a precaution,” added Řezáč. The building in Boloňská Street in the east of the metropolis is currently being heated, the reconstruction also includes the installation of photovoltaic panels.

The office of the Prague 15 district subsequently remained closed for security reasons until further notice. “We apologize for the complications and thank you for your understanding. We will continuously update further information,” said Dana Benešová from the mayor’s office on the website.
