Esenler Municipality Will Host the 1st International Writers’ Meeting

Esenler Municipality will host the 1st International Writers’ Meeting on the occasion of November 1, World Writers’ Day. This important meeting, where the impact of digitalization and artificial intelligence on writing will be discussed, will bring together distinguished writers from the Balkans and Türkiye.

Esenler Municipality will host the “1st International Writers’ Meeting” in cooperation with Rami Library and AYBİR (Union of Academics and Writers of Islamic Countries). The program, where current issues of the age such as artificial intelligence, digitalization and authorship ethics will be discussed, will be held at the Rami Library on November 1, World Writers’ Day.

Writing adventure from the Balkans to Türkiye

The 1st International Writers’ Meeting will be held in three sessions with the participation of nine speakers. Writers from North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Western Thrace and six writers from Türkiye will share their experiences and opinions under the theme of “Writing in the Digital Era”. The opening speeches of the program were made by Esenler Mayor Mehmet Tevfik Göksu and Association of Islamic Countries Academicians and Writers (AYBİR) Chairman Assoc. Dr. Ebubekir Ceylan and the Advisor to the Minister of National Education, Writer Erol Erdoğan. In the first session, chaired by Sevba Abdulla from North Macedonia, titled “Writing in the Digitalization Era in the Balkans”, the literary experience of the Balkan geography will be put under the spotlight. Amina Siljak Jesenkovic from Sarajevo explains academic writing and translation problems; Hüseyin Mehmet from Western Thrace, the literary adventure of Western Thrace Turks; Nada Dosti from Albania will discuss the author’s digital conscience in the face of global crises.

The impact of artificial intelligence will be discussed

Prof. Dr. In the second session, moderated by Veysel Bozkurt, the impact of artificial intelligence on authorship will be discussed in depth, under the title “Author Ethics and Responsibility in the Digitalization Era”. Salih Zengin will talk about the journey “from clay tablet to electronic tablet”, Özkan Öze will talk about the importance of writing organic text in the age of artificial intelligence, and Gülsüm Sezgin will talk about the education of artificial intelligence through “The Little Prince, Momo and Artificial Intelligence”.

A sustainable cultural platform

The 1st International Writers’ Meeting will be the first step of a sustainable platform that will bring together writers from a different region every year. The outputs obtained at the end of the program will be compiled into a book, final reports will be published and a permanent collaboration network will be established among the authors. In an era where artificial intelligence produces texts, algorithms determine reading habits, and digital platforms transform publishing, this meeting aims to contribute to the construction of a common literary memory and future by addressing these questions from the perspective of the Balkans and Turkey.

The 1st International Writers’ Meeting will be held free of charge and open to everyone on Saturday, November 1, at Rami Library between 10.00 and 17.15. – ISTANBUL
