After a temporary interruption, in the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo in The Hague, as the Special Court is otherwise known, the hearings scheduled for the case of the former leaders of the KLA, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, resume today.
According to the court calendar, today the former special envoy of the United States of America in Kosovo, Christopher Hill, begins his testimony. The sessions are expected to continue for the next three days. The former US diplomat played a key role in the negotiations leading up to the Rambouillet conference in 1999.
He was involved in negotiations with the Kosovo Liberation Army and participated in the diplomatic efforts surrounding that Agreement. The former KLA leaders have been in custody since November 2020, and the Special Court has charged them with war crimes and crimes against humanity, charges they have denied. So far, 4 defense witnesses of former president Hashim Thaçi have testified at the court in The Hague.
