The teaching process in all educational institutions of Pristina has been suspended for today, as a preventive measure after the intensification of rains and the increased risk of flooding in the capital.
The news was announced by the Director of Education in the Municipality of Prishtina, Samir Shahini, who in a public announcement emphasized that the decision was taken after assessing the severe weather situation and major traffic difficulties.
“We inform you that due to the worsening weather conditions, heavy rainfall and traffic difficulties, in coordination with the Directorate of Security and Emergencies, the Directorate of Public Services and the relevant school directors, the teaching process for today is cancelled. This decision was also taken in coordination with the Mayor of the Capital, and is a preventive measure of safety for our children”, said Shahini.
The Municipality of Pristina has thanked parents and the school community for their understanding, appealing for increased caution during this period of high meteorological risk.
The Hydrometeorological Institute has warned that these rains may cause rapid flooding and an increase in the water level in some localities.
The Emergency Management Agency has announced that it has taken all the necessary measures to manage the situation and coordinate with the relevant institutions.
