The Czech government does not have and is not planning to have any contacts with them at the moment. According to the minister, the only way to sustainable peace for Syria is a political solution in accordance with UN Resolution 2254 from 2015.
“The general priority of Czech diplomacy at the moment is to stabilize the situation so that there is no further massive migration flow to Europe,” he said. He did not want to anticipate further political steps and added that coordination with partners from the EU will be key.
According to the minister, the situation is very unclear. It is necessary to wait to see how the forces will be distributed after Assad’s fall, what the transitional government will be like, and whether further violence or fighting will break out, which could trigger a wave of migration. “That is why we are calling for a political and peaceful solution,” he pointed out.
