Central Europe is in for a cold shock this weekend

Over southern Scandinavia, a deep depression called Gerda collided with the remnants of the disintegrated hurricane Kirk. The result is storms with strong winds and intense snowfall, which affected the Scandinavian countries, and a sharp drop in temperatures. Around this northwest flow, cold air reaches Central Europe and with it frosts, reports the website of the German meteorological company Wetter.

Saturday morning will be cold. “Two meters above the ground, it will already be minus one degree. The sharp cooling will bring snow to the mountains,” said Honsová.

On Saturday, it should be clear to partly cloudy at first, in the evening the clouds will increase from the west and there may be showers or rain. During the day, temperatures will range between 11 and 15 degrees.

Sunday morning will be warmer in the Czech Republic – with values ​​between seven and three degrees. It should be cloudy to overcast, from the west it may rain again in places. The thermometer will show 12 to 16 degrees during the day.

The German Meteorological Service warns of frost, when the temperature can drop to minus three degrees Celsius. Ground frosts will affect the whole of Germany on Saturday. Fog and ground frost will also prevail in Austria on Saturday. After they dissipate, local meteorologists promise sunny weather. It should be cloudy and rainy in Austria on Sunday.

At the beginning of the new working week, warm air will begin to flow into Europe from the south. “Sunny days await us with temperatures around 17 degrees Celsius. We will fully enjoy the Teresian granny summer,” concluded Honsová.
