The events were watched by a family waiting for their table in front of the restaurant. A woman named Michelle filmed the incident on her mobile phone. “At first it looked like the man was mocking the police,” said Michelle.
One of the lawmen knocked him to the ground from behind. Immediately, two other colleagues joined him and started beating the man head on. “I didn’t understand why they started beating him in the face,” said Michelle. According to her, he did not attack them or fight with them. “They understand that sometimes force is needed, but there are certainly ways to deal with it other than knocking and repeatedly punching people in the face,” Michelle said, adding, “I think this is police brutality.”
Charlotte police are investigating the case, but have declined to comment officially.
