According to the original plans, Biden was supposed to fly to Germany last week, but he postponed the visit then because of Hurricane Milton, which hit the United States. According to earlier media reports, the newly planned trip will last only one day. On Friday, Biden will meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre noted that an important part of Biden’s trip will be the continuation of aid to Ukraine. As part of the originally planned visit, Biden had several high-level meetings on the agenda, including a meeting of the contact group for the defense of Ukraine, which was to be attended by representatives of dozens of other countries, including the Czech Republic. Finally, according to Washington, the contact group meeting will take place online in November.
