The acting president of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has welcomed the agreement reached between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo regarding the selection of the candidate for president of the Republic.
Through a public reaction, Haxhiu has described this agreement as a key development for unblocking the political situation and completing the functionalization of state institutions.
“I welcome the agreement reached today between the VETËVENDOSJE Movement! and the Democratic League of Kosovo for the candidate for the President of the Republic. Today’s agreement is a very important step towards overcoming the impasse and the full functioning of the institutions. Now it is important that this process be concluded in the Assembly, with the responsibility that the moment and the interest of the Republic require.”wrote Haxhiu.
The agreement between the two political entities comes after the official proposal made by the chairman of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, who announced that the consensual name proposed for the post of head of state is Bekim Sejdiu. After this political step has been reached, it is expected that the process will move to a plenary session in the Assembly of Kosovo for the candidacy vote.
