Perov spoke before the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly as one of the representatives of smaller political parties that are not represented in the regional parliament. In his speech, according to the investigative website Meduza, he claimed that a nuclear strike against Ukraine would force Kyiv to conclude a peace agreement.
“Therefore, I believe that you, the deputies, should turn to the president with a petition to start using nuclear weapons and use them against the followers of Bandera and Shuchevych, which will lead the Ukrainian leadership to sign a peace agreement and end the special military operation,” he said.
However, he could not finish his speech because his microphone was turned off. The video appeared on the Telegram network.
In his speech, Perov spared no criticism of Ukraine, accusing its president Volodymyr Zelensky of anti-communism and Russophobia.
According to his words, “Zelensky’s criminal regime under the patronage of the European Union” attacked Russia with the aim of “establishing the Bandera neo-Nazi regime”. In this way, he explained the causes of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which, like the Kremlin, he describes as a “special military operation”. According to him, Putin was forced to launch the invasion.
Perov’s political career is connected with communist ideology. He joined the Social Protection Party, founded in 2012, in 2018. However, on June 3, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation abolished it at the request of the Ministry of Justice. At various times, he was also a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) and the Communist Party of Russia.
