The United States on Thursday evening allowed countries to buy Russian oil already loaded on tankers at sea for 30 days in an attempt to stabilize world energy markets. There is no danger that the Czech Republic would start buying it again. However, the representatives of the coalition parties do not agree on the approach.
“We will not call for anything like that,” summed up Deputy Prime Minister Schillerová, adding that “the position of the Czech government is clear and the sanctions are ongoing.”
As a coalition partner of the ANO movement, Okamura spoke about the fact that he supports the diversification of resources, which can lead to lower prices. “In the event of an oil crisis, it is better for our citizens to have cheaper energy. We have to get to that sooner or later,” added Okamura.
SPD MP Jaroslav Foldyna would not stick with energy in negotiations with Russia. “Hasn’t the time come to take the first steps towards negotiations with Russia on the supply of oil and natural gas and subsequently on the repair of mutual relations?” wrote on the X network.
Kupka responded to Okamur’s words in the debate with a bon mot about the government’s two faces and no backbone. Other discussants also rejected the purchase of Russian oil. STAN Chairman Vít Rakušan stated that we always buy Russian oil twice. On the one hand, by the purchase itself and subsequently by extinguishing the consequences of the Russian attacks in Ukraine.
Boris Šťastný, head of the Motorist parliamentary club, also rejected the proposal, according to which his party “does not support this idea”.
Also, the representative of the Pirates, Ivan Bartoš, rejected any further increase in the vulnerability of dependence on fossil fuels and non-renewable resources.
