The President commented on the issue of sanctions on Russian oil, which were introduced after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. He stated that some of these measures were temporarily eased due to rising oil prices in the world. At the same time, according to him, the sanctions will soon be renewed. “As soon as the crisis is over,” he said.
“I want oil for the world. I want oil,” Trump told NBC News when asked about rising energy prices.
Instead of responding to criticism of sanctions by world leaders, he focused on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “I am surprised that Zelensky does not want to make a deal. Tell Zelensky to make a deal because Putin is ready to make it,” he said.
“It is much more difficult to come to an agreement with Zelensky,” added the American president.
Zelenskyj said a few days ago that, according to him, sanctions “are not the right decision”. But the United States claims that Russia will not have significant financial benefits from the change.
Last week, Zelensky offered help to the US forces and their allies in the Middle East in shooting down Iranian drones and using Ukraine’s experience with combat drones. Some teams have already arrived in countries in the Middle East.
However, Trump declared on Saturday that the US does not need this help and refused to comment on whether the Ukrainian offer was accepted.
