Macinka summoned the ambassador in Tehran to Prague for consultations

“In connection with Iran’s hostile and unprovoked actions against the countries of the Gulf, which are not part of the conflict, as well as against our other partners and allies, the Minister of Foreign Affairs decided to summon the ambassador of the Czech Republic to Tehran for consultations at the headquarters,” the ministry’s statement reads.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tehran remains operational under the charge d’affaires.

Career diplomat Grepl has been working in Tehran since last year. In the past, he was ambassador to China, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

The conflict in the Middle East began with American and Israeli strikes on Iran on Saturday, February 28. Shortly thereafter, Iran launched military retaliation and began attacking Israel and American bases and other targets in the Persian Gulf with missiles and drones.
