Damage to the Serbian embassy in Tehran, Vucic: I had warned of the attacks, the staff will be withdrawn to Baku and Azerbaijan

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has reacted after the damage suffered by the Serbian Embassy in Tehran as a result of Saturday’s attacks.

He emphasized that the target of the American attack was the Pasdjar base, although the Serbian embassy was also damaged.

He clarified that the staff of the Serbian embassy will be withdrawn to Baku and Azerbaijan, while adding that there are 14 Serbian citizens in Iran. Vucic underlined that as soon as the airspace in the Middle East opens, Serbia will send planes to pick up its citizens.

“The embassy was damaged. Our embassy was not the target. The target of the American attack was the Pasdjar base, but of course the shrapnel and all the debris damaged our embassy”Vucic said.

Answering the question if there is a plan for the country to remain stable despite the conflict in the Middle East, just as the conditions in the country were stable during previous crises in the world, Vucic said that the consequences of the conflict in the Middle East will be far-reaching, although he stressed that Serbia will maintain stability.

He added that he had previously warned about the situation in the Middle East region and even said the day when there would be an attack.

I said it will be between Friday and Saturday. They always do this because they expect to finish the job in a day or two, and then recover on Monday. Of course, as always, no one listened, everyone knows better than I do, and now we have a problem with everything that’s going on. The Emirates were brutally attacked, neither guilty nor responsible, because the justification that one of the American bases is located in that territory does not mean anything special in terms of an attack on a civilian structure in Dubai.” Vucic said.
