The Secretary General of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), Iakovos Filippousis, has praised Kosovo’s preparations so far for the organization of the Mediterranean Games, describing the 21st edition as an extraordinary opportunity for the sporting, infrastructural and institutional development of the country.
During the visit and meetings with representatives of sports institutions, Filippousis emphasized the importance of the commitment of the Kosovo Olympic Committee and sports federations, underlining that the preparations for Pristina 2030 are moving in the right direction.
“The leadership of the National Olympic Committee and the National Sports Federations deserve our recognition especially while the preparations for “Prishtina” 2030 are underway. The 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games represents an extraordinary opportunity for Pristina and Kosovo, for the state and its capital; not only on the field of play, where the states will compete at the highest levels of 28 sports, but also in terms of building modern infrastructure and sustainable. These opportunities will strengthen the athletes’ preparations, support long-term developments in the sport and raise performance standards for years to come,” said Filippousis.
According to him, the organization of the Mediterranean Games will have a multiple impact for Kosovo, leaving a long-term legacy in sports, infrastructure and institutional capacities, as well as strengthening the position of Pristina on the map of major international sports events./ kosovapress
