The election of the President of Kosovo, Muca: It was decided by the square. Europeans are not very enthusiastic

Muça emphasized that the successive failure of party candidacies proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement showed the limits of Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s power.

According to him, the big turning point came from popular mobilization.

“Albin Kurti is not some great brave. The problem is that there was no opposition. And at the moment when the opposition came forward and was not in front but was in the square and when he saw that the generation that was born after the war was in the square cheering the KLA, he apparently realized that he too is not eternal and can easily be defeated…

And this shows his weakest point and in this sense there is no surprise. Of course, he was a discussed name, he was among the names, he may have been among the most acceptable names in the sense that he was a man who had been politically distanced for over 10 years“, said Muça.

Regarding the role of the international factor in resolving the impasse, Muça made a sharp distinction between Washington and Brussels. Although the Americans insisted on ending the political crisis, European diplomacy remains skeptical.

“Americans want to end the crisis, while Europeans are not very enthusiastic about this part. For the Europeans, it is not just the story of what happened to the president, but what will be done with the Special”, he clarified.

According to him, to overcome the blockade caused by the names of the active party line, a figure with an academic profile from the Academy of Sciences was chosen as the only efficient formula.

According to Muça, this solution gave Albin Kurti a publicly acceptable “way out”, replacing the failed political candidates with a figure distanced from daily politics and respected by the parties.

“There is a difference that if all the names that were earlier were names that came from the ranks of Vetevendosje, the case of the currently elected president did not come from active politics, he was already at the head of the Academy of Sciences and was a figure respected by all parties.

So of course it is a formula that gives Albin Kurti a way out in relation to saying that she is an honorable academic lady and others in a row.

But the real reason if we want to say it is the square. The square which, as Vangjeli said, comes from those four men there who have that legitimacy and that power that we have seen. And of course, together with this square, I think that the allies who are not the leaders behind the Hague court, behind the specialized chambers, which are the Americans…”, Muca declared.
