The Montenegrin police are in pursuit of the Russian citizen Mikhail Shabunin (30 years old), suspected of being the author of a triple murder committed today in the area of Danilovgrad.
The authorities suspect that the suspect used firearms to execute three employees of the “Češka Zbrojovka” shooting range near Danilovgrad. The victims have been identified as:
Petar Globarević (24 years old) from Podgorica;
Nemanja Kapor (20 years old) from Podgorica;
Momir Radonjić (67 years old) from Danilovgrad.
According to preliminary investigations, it is suspected that Shabunin fled the scene with a Seat Cordoba vehicle (plate PG AC 472), which was owned by the father of one of the murdered.
Blocking of the area and instructions for citizens
The Police Department has issued an urgent warning calling on citizens to stay inside their homes while the operational action to capture the armed suspect is underway.
The Police Directorate calls on all citizens to report any information or location of the suspect to the toll-free number 122, through the “Police Montenegro” application, or in any other way, guaranteeing that the information can also be provided anonymously. The authorities recall that concealing information about wanted persons constitutes a criminal offense.
The government declares September 1 and 2 mourning days, the school year is postponed
Due to the tragedy, the Government of Montenegro has decided to declare September 1 and 2, 2026 as days of national mourning. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and announced that the start of the new school year in Danilovgrad will be postponed to Thursday, September 3.
During the two days of mourning, state flags will be lowered to half-mast in all public and official buildings, cultural and entertainment activities will be suspended, and media and commerce will adjust their activities in accordance with the legal framework for days of mourning.
The Director of the Police of Montenegro: The Russian author is armed and an “active threat”, borders and airports are blocked
The Director General of the Montenegrin Police, Lazar Šćepanović, has given new details about the triple murder committed today around 16:45 at the shooting range “Češka zbrojevka” near Danilovgrad, naming the Russian suspect Mikhail Nikolaevich Shabun (30) as a “dangerous person and active threat”.
Through a statement to the media, Šćepanović confirmed that the suspect had attended the shooting range in recent days. Today, after shooting at the range, he entered the administrative building and shot dead three employees: Petar Globarević (24), Nemanja Kapor (20) and Momir Radonjić (67).
“Police officers identified the suspect in a very short time. He is a dangerous person who brought with him a quantity of ammunition and firearms. He poses a potential danger and an active threat to security.” Šćepanović said.
Blocking of border points and field investigations
According to the head of the Montenegrin police, after the execution of three employees, the 30-year-old Russian took the vehicle of one of the victims and left quickly in an unknown direction.
In response to the serious incident, the authorities announced that all the capacities of the state police have been mobilized:
All the main roads, border crossing points and airports of the country are blocked.
Information received from citizens indicates that the suspect was moving through the Zeta River area during Sunday and was seen in certain objects.
The suspect had entered Montenegro by bus, where he had stayed before, although he was not officially registered in the accommodation addresses.
Šćepanović guaranteed that the police are taking every operational action to bring the author under control, as well as to fully clarify the motives that led to this serious crime.
