Abdixhiku wins the vote of confidence/LDK rejects the impeachment motion, reopens the dialogue with Vetëvendosje

Lumir Abdixhiku will continue to lead the Democratic League of Kosovo, after surviving the vote of confidence in the Extraordinary Assembly of the party. The motion for his dismissal was defeated with 169 votes against, while 152 delegates voted for the removal of the chairman. During his speech, Abdixhik described the meeting as unnecessary and criticized the dissenting voices within the party for the attacks and public accusations against the LDK.

He emphasized that the reform he intends to undertake is not exclusionary, but aims at expanding and strengthening the party. According to him, the members who carry the LDK logo must respect its decisions and political orientation. After the end of the voting, Abdixhiku announced that from the next day the suspension of talks with the Vetëvendosje Movement will be lifted in order to continue the political discussions.

He announced that the Assembly has also approved a statement on overcoming the political deadlock and avoiding extraordinary elections in Kosovo. The vice president of the LDK, Lutfi Haziri, spoke in the same line, who confirmed the restoration of the authorization for negotiations with Vetevendosje. Haziri said that any possible cooperation should be based on a complete agreement on the governing program, sectorial policies and division of responsibilities.
