The suspicions after finding the remains in the village of Kalludër of Zubin Potok, are that they may belong to 23 intellectuals from Mitrovica who disappeared in 1999.
This is what the Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti declared during a conference on war victims.
“We have to wait for our bodies to tell us what it is about there, but it seems that we have a mass cemetery in the village of Kalludër of Zubin Potok, which is a municipality north of Ibri, which was an area that was not examined earlier, so it is a matter of a territory untouched by the excavations.”
During the excavations in Kalludër of Zubin Potok, mortal remains and clothes were found, which are suspected to belong to the group of intellectuals, while the Kosovo Police has arrested two suspects in connection with their disappearance. Kurti also spoke about the victims of the war while calling on the international factor to put pressure on Serbia to open the army archives.
“January 1, 1998 – June 29, 1999, 12,230 war victims were documented, … the report documents that from 0-17 years old, over 1,000 were killed … I call on the international community to put pressure on Serbia to change the decision on the 30-year classification of documents until 2044 and to open the archives of the 37th Motorized Army Brigade Yugoslavia, in order to provide information about the fate of missing persons in Kosovo.”
Kurti also asked citizens and organizations that may have evidence to cooperate with the Institute for War Crimes in Kosovo.
