The Central Election Commission (CEC) has certified the participation in the early parliamentary elections of June 6, 2026 for three political coalitions, one independent candidate and has rejected the certification of two other subjects.
In today’s meeting, the CEC approved the recommendations of the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control of Political Entities.
Out of 23 applying entities (18 registered parties, 3 coalitions, 1 citizen initiative and 1 independent candidate), four were certified.
Certified entities: Coalition “Vetëvendosje Movement” – consisting of Vetëvendosje Movement, Guxo, Alternativa and Albanian Democratic Christian Party. Vakat coalition. United Ashkali coalition. Independent candidate Esmir Kasi.
The commission refused the certification of the citizens’ initiative “Složno Pobedijuemo” (with spelling variations such as “Slozni po Bedzuema”). The main reason was the failure to fulfill the legal conditions of Article 16, paragraph 7 of the Law on General Elections.
According to director Besnik Buzhala, out of 1087 submitted signatures, only 1015 were validated. During the verification, cases of personally undefined signatures, lack of phone numbers for 576 supporters and impossibility of contact with about 80 people were found.
Even after requesting 600 additional signatures, the entity managed to secure only 423.
In the same meeting, the CEC decided to increase the number of voters who can register for physical voting at the Kosovo Consulate in Frankfurt, from 1,500 to 1,900 voters.
This decision was made after increasing registration requests and only 113 vacancies.
With the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora and the confirmation of the Consul General, each polling station will have a capacity of 950 voters, maintaining the spatial and logistical conditions of the diplomatic mission.
Early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo will be held on June 6, 2026.
