The elections of June 7 in Kosovo, 23 political entities submit lists of candidates

23 political subjects submitted within the deadline the lists with the names of the candidates who will compete for deputies in the early parliamentary elections on June 7.

The spokesperson of the CEC, Valimir Elezi, informed that four parties, Yeniliçki Türk Haraket Partisi, Kosovski Savez, Partia Balliste – PB and Civic Party for Social Welfare, which had earlier announced their participation in the parliamentary elections, did not submit the lists in question.

From May 2 to May 12, the CEC has accepted the lists of candidates for deputies from 23 political entities, of which 18 political parties, 3 coalitions, a citizen initiative and an independent candidate. Four political parties, which had earlier notified the CEC of participation in the elections, have not submitted the lists with their names, i.e. of the candidates for deputies

Elezi also announced that the total number of MP candidates is 917.

“There are 917, of which 603 are men and 314 are women. According to the plan approved by the Central Election Commission, the process of certifying candidates for deputies of these political entities is expected to be completed by May 15, but beforehand it will be examined if the candidates fulfill the specified legal criteria”, he concluded.

The early parliamentary elections are held after the previous legislature of the assembly failed to elect a new head of state after the end of Vjosa Osman’s term as president, a process that also needs the support of the opposition.

“The total number of candidates for deputies representing these 23 political subjects is 917, of which 603 are men and 314 are women. According to the plan approved by the Central Election Commission, the certification process of candidates for deputies of these political subjects is expected to be completed by May 15, but beforehand it will be examined if the candidates fulfill the specified legal criteria”, he concluded.

Extraordinary elections in Kosovo are held on June 7.
