Donald Trump Jr., the son of the US president-elect, arrived in Greenland one hour after noon on Tuesday. “No, I’m not buying Greenland,” he told reporters, referring to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who told Trump senior that Greenland was not for sale. According to his words, Trump Jr. is in Greenland on a one-day private visit.

He did not provide any further details on Greenland, which he said the United States should own or control. However, he claims that the Panama Canal “was built for our army”.

The Panama Canal is the main waterway connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The almost 82-kilometer-long elevated canal shortens the maritime route from Europe to the Pacific by 11,200 kilometers or the route between New York and San Francisco from 20,000 kilometers to almost half (11,272 km). The Panamanian government owns the canal, and the US is its biggest customer.

Trump accused Panama of charging excessive fees to use the canal and threatened that if the Central American country did not manage the waterway in an acceptable manner, he could demand that the administration of the canal be handed over to the United States.

Regarding Canada, Trump was more “peaceful”. He wants to use only economic power to join it.

According to him, joining a country of 40 million people, which Canadian politicians clearly reject, would be beneficial to American national security. “Canada and the United States, that would really be something. You get rid of the artificially drawn border and look at what that would look like, and it would also be much better for national security,” Trump noted.
