“The future has already arrived on the front line – and it is Ukrainian. These are our ground robotic systems. For the first time in the history of this war, the enemy’s position was occupied exclusively by platforms without people on them – ground systems and drones. The occupiers surrendered and the operation was carried out without infantry and without losses on our side,” wrote Zelensky on the X social network.
He also listed the names of the Ukrainian robotic arsenal.
“Ratel, TerMIT, Ardal, Lys, Zmij, Protektor, Volya and our other ground robotic systems have already performed more than 22,000 missions at the front in just three months. In other words, they saved human lives more than 22,000 times when a robot went to the most dangerous areas instead of a fighter. This cutting-edge technology protects the highest value – human life,” said the Ukrainian president. “I congratulate the workers of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex,” he added.
One of the key systems deployed on the battlefield was the Ukrainian-made ground robotic system “Ljut”. This robot has already been tested and approved for military use and is intended for reconnaissance and fire support.
It is equipped with a 7.62 mm machine gun and sensors that allow it to detect targets and attack them day and night. The compact robot, which can be transported in a military pick-up truck, is powered by a silent electric motor, which enables prolonged operational use.
It easily maneuvers in inaccessible terrain and can be used in extreme weather conditions. Operators control the system remotely from a protected location, which reduces the risk to personnel.
For logistics and evacuation missions, the Zmij complex was created, a ground robot with ballistic and anti-mine protection, intended for logistics and evacuation missions. From the air, ground robotic systems can be supported by the Hromylo drone, which is capable of targeting enemy positions, including their equipment and field shelters.

World premiere of magura
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also approved for use the Tančik robotic system, a platform that can withstand a load of up to 500 kilograms and can be an effective helper in sabotage actions. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, in the sections of the front line, where robotic systems were deployed en masse, the losses of the Ukrainian army decreased by roughly 30 percent.
A special chapter in the development of drones is represented by the now legendary Ukrainian unmanned boats, which were involved, among other things, in the liquidation of a significant part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. One of them, Sea Baby, was also used by the Ukrainian secret service in the attack on the Crimean bridge.
The Magura-V7 drone armed with AIM-9 missiles has a world premiere to its credit – shooting down a fighter jet from a naval drone. It happened near Novorossiysk in May 2025, while already in December 2024 the Ukrainians used a Magura V5 drone to shoot down two Russian Mil Mi-8 helicopters.
