The prosecution demands life imprisonment for those accused of the attack in Banjska

The Special Prosecutor’s Office and the injured party have requested the maximum sentence, life imprisonment, for those accused of the attack in Banjska, calling this the only punishment proportional to the gravity of the crime.

During the final speech, the prosecutor of the case, Naim Abazi, stated that the case represents a direct confrontation between the constitutional order of Kosovo and an armed organization with terrorist goals.

According to him, there is clear evidence that the group has been well organized since 2021 in Raskë, with the aim of disrupting the order and secession of a part of the territory of Kosovo. The prosecution presented videos and photographs as evidence for the involvement of each accused in the attack where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.

Meanwhile, the final words are also being followed by the representatives of the injured party. The lawyer of the Bunjaku family, Arianit Koci, also asked for life imprisonment for the accused.

Afrim Bunjaku continues to be killed every day, as long as no one has repented or distanced himself from the crime. I feel sorry for any young person who is convicted, but not when the crime is proven with facts. Kosovo is an independent state and no part of it can be separated“, said Koci.

He added that the accused would have been able to ease their position if they had cooperated with justice and expressed remorse.

The judicial process for the attack in Banjska continues, while the court’s decision regarding the final punishments is awaited.
