Trump indiscriminately attacked Netanyahu

“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, especially on this special day when we are so close to a peace deal with Iran. Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it responded to was very small and insignificant, no one was injured or killed, and should not disrupt this important process,” he wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.

In an interview for the Axios server and Fox News television, he was even sharper in his criticism. “It’s bad — I couldn’t believe it. An hour before we were supposed to sign the deal,” Trump fumed after aides briefed him on the Israeli attack.

“Why did Bibi have to attack the f**k? I was really upset. I let him know. He has no damn sense at all. That’s what I told him,” Trump said.

According to Trump, however, the agreement is still very close. “We are very close to an agreement that will bring peace to the region, including Lebanon, and all parties should back down,” he said.

“There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. This could be the beginning of a ‘long and beautiful peace,'” Trump added. The signing of the agreement between Iran and the United States has been expected for several days.

On Sunday, Israel attacked the targets of the Hezbollah terrorist movement in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The Lebanese agency NNA subsequently reported on two deaths. The attack was a response to strikes by Hezbollah, which previously attacked northern Israel with rockets and drones.
