They are losing territory anyway. Trump is pushing Ukraine to accept a peace plan by Thursday

Trump stated this in an interview with the Fox News radio station. He said that the mentioned date is an “appropriate time” for the adoption of the plan. The document envisages, among other things, that Ukraine will hand over the entire Donbas to Russia, including the parts that the Russian army has not yet conquered.

CNN also quoted from the interview, according to which Trump confirmed that his administration “set (Kiev’s) deadline” for next Thursday, when it should agree to his 28-point peace plan.

“I’ve had a lot of deadlines, but if things are going well, you tend to move it. But Thursday (November 27) is the right one,” Trump said.

At the same time, the President rejected the mention of Ukraine’s concerns about the peace plan, given that the document envisages handing over territory to Russia. “They’re losing territory anyway,” Trump said.

“They (Ukraine and Russia) lost a total of 25,000 people last month. Twenty-five thousand people. It’s out of control, it’s bloodshed,” the president added.

The president was also asked if he plans to lift the sanctions that Washington has imposed on Russia. Trump replied that he was not planning such a step. “I’m not doing anything to do with lifting sanctions,” he added.

Trump spoke about the peace plan again at the Friday press conference in the White House. He said the US has a path to peace in Ukraine and that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “will have to accept the proposal.”

“We believe we have a way to achieve peace, he (Zelenskyj) will have to approve it,” Trump said. Asked whether the United States would stop supporting Ukraine if Zelenskyy did not approve the plan proposed by Washington, Trump said that “sooner or later he will have to accept something.” According to the American leader, Kiev should have “acted faster”.

After an hour-long phone call with US Vice President James David Vance, Zelensky said that Ukraine respects Trump’s wish to end the bloodshed and welcomes any realistic proposal.

In an emotional speech to the nation, Zelensky declared that he would not betray Ukraine. He called on Ukrainians to remain united in one of the most difficult moments in history. “One of the most difficult moments in our history has come. The pressure on Ukraine is currently one of the least severe,” said Zelenskyy, according to the newspaper Ukrainska pravda.

“Ukraine can now face a very difficult choice – either the loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner,” he continued. “Either 28 points or an extremely severe winter, the worst ever, and other risks. Life without freedom, without dignity, without justice and to trust those who have already attacked twice,” he said in response to US pressure on a plan to negotiate an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine. He added that an answer is now expected from Ukraine.
