The second round of local elections in Kosovo, CEC spokesperson: The list of voters will be updated

The list of voters where the second round of local elections will be held in Kosovo will be updated.

The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, told the KosovaPress news agency that the list will include young people who turned 18, as well as those who died after October 12, when the first round was held.

In the second round of elections, the same voting list that was used in the first round will be used, with some limited updates. Specifically, this list will be filled with people who reach voting age from October 13 to November 9. Likewise, persons who renounced Kosovo citizenship or who died during this period will be removed from the list. Beyond these changes, no other updates will be reflected in this listing,” Elezi explained.

The spokesperson of the CEC explained that the list of voters will not include the movement of citizens from one municipality to another.

Internal movements of citizens between municipalities are not included in this update, at this stage of the process. This means that citizens who have changed their place of residence from one municipality to another after the first round will not be able to vote in the municipality where they moved, but only in the one where they were registered in the voting list of the first round. So, the update of the voting list will reflect only these three aspects: the inclusion of persons who turn 18 by November 9, the removal of deceased persons and those who have renounced Kosovo citizenship,” said Elezi.

Based on preliminary results, the second round of elections will be organized in 18 municipalities. The election campaign for this round will be held from November 3 to 9. The number of citizens with the right to vote in the first round was 1,316,129 voters.
