The closure will tentatively last until midnight on Sunday, according to Ondřej Svoboda from the company Silnice LK, the date of the closure may be changed depending on the condition of the roadway and the development of the weather.
In recent years, the 18-kilometer section of the road from Tanvald to Harrachov na Jabloneck has been closed for freight traffic, with the exception of buses, every time there is heavy snowfall.
“The recommended alternative route to Poland for trucks is through the Hrádek nad Nisou border crossing on the I/35 road. We appeal to drivers to use an alternative route during the closure and not to try to drive through the closed section,” added Svoboda.
Variable traffic signs will warn of the closure of the route to Poland via the Krkonoše Mountains, motorists will already see the signs on the main routes in Příšovice, Jablonec nad Nisou or Vratislavice nad Nisou.
