“According to eyewitnesses, three masked terrorists from Hamas stopped Hijazi’s car on Thursday night and fired about 90 shots at her while she was on her way to the patients. Reports from Gaza state that the motive for the murder was to take a large part of the aid and funds that reached the Strip through donations,” wrote the Israeli website Ynet, noting that the incident took place near a hospital in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
“This is not the first such case,” said Hussein Džamal, a political scientist from the Gaza Strip, according to the Ynet server. “The truth is that civilians are murdered every day and no one talks about it. Unfortunately, Hijazíová was well-known, otherwise no one would know the circumstances or details of her death,” he wrote.
Later, he wrote on the social network that, according to the Palestinian authorities, Hijazíová was brutally murdered by mistake.

In his post, he also published a statement from the family of murdered Islam Hijazi: “Government agencies in Gaza informed us that the incident occurred as a result of a mistake in identifying the jeep our daughter was driving, and that someone else was the intended target. This matter shocked us even more than the news of our daughter’s death. How can you take an innocent life and shoot 90 bullets at her car just because of a misdiagnosis?!’
Hijazí’s death was also confirmed by the organization Heal Palestine, where this woman was the program director for the Gaza Strip. “She was a mother of two small children and a humanitarian worker with the highest level of ethics and professionalism. Islam intentionally stayed in Gaza to help others. She always said: ‘I’m staying here to help our people,'” the NGO said on the social network X, which also called for a ceasefire on that occasion.

She is survived by two small children
At the same time, the humanitarian organization did not say a word about who killed Hijazíová, which was pointed out by the number of discussants under this post. Later, on the profile of the organization Heal Palestine, a link to a fundraiser for the support of the two small children of the murdered humanitarian worker appeared.
“She left behind two young children, Maria and Mohammed, who now face life without their dear mother. Their father, still in northern Gaza, remains separated from them. The Islam children will need ongoing support as they remain in Gaza with family members and now face the loss of their mother and the absence of a stable income,” the organization wrote.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army is continuing its military operation in the Gaza Strip after around 1,200 people were killed in an attack by Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups last October. According to Hamas authorities, the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip has claimed over 40,000 lives. There are also about a hundred Israeli hostages who were dragged away by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza – but it is not clear how many of them are still alive.
