The group detained in Slovakia inspected the Družba pipeline. The minister did not rule out preparation for a terrorist attack

Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas) stated that activities were recorded in the territory of eastern Slovakia that indicate possible preparation of a terrorist attack on critical infrastructure.

“In this case, there could be an interest in at least monitoring the exposed points of the Družba pipeline. A group was identified that could do some monitoring of critical infrastructure in the east of Slovakia, and a possible intention to damage critical infrastructure cannot be ruled out,” said the Minister of the Interior, according to Markíza television.

The police found a drone in the car of the detained Ukrainian with Hungarian citizenship, which, according to his lawyer Marián Havrila, he was using for private purposes.

“My client did not plan or prepare any attack on the critical infrastructure of the Slovak Republic. In his case, no dangerous objects, no weapons, explosives or ammunition, nor any items that could cause an attack on critical infrastructure were found during house searches or during searches of personal motor vehicles,” emphasized Havrila.

Both men were released from pre-trial detention without charge on Saturday, but the interior minister is talking about possible expulsion from the country. According to unconfirmed information, wigs, masks and maps of critical infrastructure were found during house searches.

“As far as I know, there was a proposal to expel him from Slovakia. In any case, I can guarantee that he will not be a person who could threaten the security of Slovakia,” Šutaj Eštok said to the Ukrainian with Hungarian citizenship.
