The founder of the Mango fashion chain died tragically

Andic died while walking with his son and wife on the path that leads to the famous monastery of Montserrat. According to the EFE agency, he fell into the abyss from a height of about 150 meters, so the rescuers who were called could no longer help him. Andic was a passionate mountain hiker.

“It is with deep regret that we announce the unexpected death of Isak Andic, our honorary chairman and founder of Mango, in an accident that occurred this Saturday,” Mango said on the X network. “He dedicated his life to Mango and left an indelible mark thanks to his strategic vision, inspirational leadership and unwavering commitment to the values ​​he himself instilled in our company,” she added.

Isak Andik Ermay was born on October 20, 1953 in Istanbul, Turkey, into a Jewish family. He moved to Catalonia at the age of 14. Three years later, he started selling his first clothes at markets and later sold them in stores in Barcelona and Madrid. He opened the first store of the Mango brand in 1984 in Barcelona, ​​now the company has over two and a half thousand stores in a hundred countries around the world.

According to Forbes magazine, the value of Andik’s property is about 4.5 billion euros (112 billion CZK), he was the richest man in Catalonia. On Saturday, the head of the regional Catalan government, Salvador Illa, also expressed his condolences to the bereaved, who also highlighted his business on the X network, which, according to him, made Catalonia a good name in the world.
