The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) and the Special Operations Forces (SSO) were involved in the operation, the Ukrainian newspaper reported.
The event had several steps. First, members of the SBU blew up the tracks when the train with the tanks was moving near the village of Oleksijivka. This derailed the train and several tankers caught fire, writes The Kyiv Post (KP) server.
Subsequently, units from the HUR, in coordination with the airborne unit of Tavrija, attacked the outer wagons with HIMARS missiles, whereby the Ukrainians destroyed the locomotive and other tanks and ensured that the occupiers could not save any fuel.
Then it was time for the drone operators, who carried out the attack with unmanned aircraft, writes the newspaper Ukrainska pravda.
In addition to the destruction of the locomotive and 40 tank cars, the Ukrainians also succeeded in decommissioning an important railway line, which, according to the KP, the Russians use to supply their troops on the occupied Crimean peninsula.
