“We are excited that the winner from the Czech Republic is taking home this record prize of almost three billion crowns. The amount of the prize exceeded the previous record of 2.466 billion crowns from May 2015,” said Martin Babec, manager of the lottery company Allwyn. According to the company, this year’s winner of the dizzying amount bet the full bet, including the Extra 6 bonus game.
During Tuesday’s draw in Helsinki, not only financial prizes were awarded as part of the Eurojackpot. “One of the bettors secured an apartment in Prague worth 20 million crowns with the right tip,” added Babec.
In the Eurojackpot lottery, which is played in several European countries, including the Czech Republic, the challenge is for the bettor to guess five numbers out of 50 and two additional numbers. There are two draws per week. The chance of winning the jackpot is one in 140 million.
