The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has announced that he will send invitations to the leaders of the opposition parties to discuss the process of electing the new president.
Kurti said that he has not yet held internal consultations on future meetings, but stressed the importance of reaching a broad consensus.
“Without a doubt, I will invite the leaders of the opposition parties for meetings, so that we can evaluate the ways to secure at least 80 votes. It is not enough to have only 80 or 81 deputies; the aim is to have about 84-86 deputies to ensure the election of the president“, declared Kurti.
He added that the expectations and demands that will be examined during these meetings will become clear only after their development.
The head of the executive emphasized that the issue of electing the president is urgent, but it is essential that the process ends successfully.
“The election of the president is an extremely important issue and we take it with the highest institutional and political seriousness. According to the judgment of the Constitutional Court, we have until April 28, which means 30 days, not just three days. Our aim is to act as soon as possible, but for this internal consultations are necessary. After them, I will send invitations for meetings with the leaders of the opposition parties. How important is the urgency of the process, yes it is so important that we succeed. In the end, we are not measured by the efforts, but by the results we achieve”Kurt said.
He added that the judgment of the Constitutional Court provides a sufficient period of time, which not only enables quick action, but also avoids mistakes during the process to achieve the desired results.
