Japan’s public broadcaster NHK said the missile appeared to have landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, which is an area of sea up to 200 nautical miles (roughly 370 kilometers) from the coast.
The Reuters and AP agencies emphasize that the first launch of a North Korean missile in roughly two months took place during the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Seoul and at a time of political crisis in South Korea.
The DPRK is thus apparently continuing its increased activity in weapons testing even in 2025.
