The Czech authorities will help with the settlement of the pension abroad

The first of them is confirmation that they have worked the necessary years to be entitled to a pension. The years worked abroad can also be counted towards this.

“And that is if we are talking about periods of insurance obtained in states that apply the Coordination Regulation of the European Union, or in states with which the Czech Republic has concluded an international agreement on social security,” said Jitka Drmolová, spokeswoman for the Czech Social Security Administration (ČSSZ).

In addition to the EU states, it can be Switzerland, Norway or Great Britain. However, the interstate pension procedure is longer than the standard national procedure. Identification data such as name, date of birth and insurance number are required.

“The condition is that the insurance period is confirmed by the relevant authority of the given state as admissible according to its legal regulations,” added Drmolová. However, the pension paid in the Czech Republic is determined exclusively for the years worked here.

Pensions for years worked abroad are reimbursed by the state in which the person worked and paid social insurance. However, the Czech authorities will also help with its handling.

“The application for a pension from all EU states or contracting states in which the person was insured in the past is applied by default in the country of residence,” said Drmolová. However, the pension is then paid by its counterpart in the given country.
