The commitment of the state and KOK to the Mediterranean Games is reiterated

Preparations for the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030” are entering a key phase, being positioned as one of the biggest state and sports projects of Kosovo. With a focus on the development of sports, infrastructure and the international image of the country, this process is being supported by government institutions, national sports structures and international partners.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo emphasized the strategic importance of the Mediterranean Games as a state development project and underlines the role of the government in guaranteeing inter-institutional cooperation and long-term support for their successful organization.

The Mediterranean Games, “Prishtina 2030”, are a state development project that requires cooperation and commitment from all of us without distinction. Preparing for them is a serious inter-institutional and inter-sectoral commitment. Therefore, the government will continue to be a powerful partner in this process, as a stable support for their successful realization“, said Kurti.

The President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi, highlighted the year 2025 as a crucial period for the preparations, emphasizing the concrete institutional steps and the extensive cooperation that are being undertaken to make Kosovo a dignified organizer of this historic event.

A special chapter of 2025 is dedicated to the preparation of the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030”. In addition to the formation of the Temporary Organizing Committee, we have also carried out the visits of the coordinating committee for the Mediterranean Games, which represent concrete and important steps towards the organization of this historic event for our country. Intensive work and close cooperation with all relevant actors prove that our seriousness and willingness to represent Kosovo with dignity also as an organizing country“, declared Krasniqi.

While the Secretary General of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), Iakovos Filippousis evaluated the preparations so far and considers the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games as an extraordinary opportunity for the sporting, infrastructural and institutional development of Kosovo.

The leadership of the National Olympic Committee and the National Sports Federations deserve our recognition especially while preparations for “Prishtina” 2030 are underway. The 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games represents an extraordinary opportunity for Pristina and Kosovo, for the state and its capital; not only on the playing field, where the countries will compete at the highest levels of 28 sports, but also in terms of building modern and sustainable infrastructure. These opportunities will strengthen the athletes’ preparations, support long-term developments in the sport and raise performance standards for years to come.“, said Filippousis

The Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030” are expected to be a turning point for sports and urban development in Kosovo. Beyond sports competitions, this event aims to leave a lasting infrastructural legacy, increase the organizational capacities of local institutions and strengthen Kosovo’s position on the international stage.
