In Albania, the book “History of Turkish Literature in the Balkans” was introduced by UNYT Press, the publishing house of New York University in Tirana (UNYT), which is affiliated with the Turkish Maarif Foundation, and UNYT Balkan Studies Center.
Representatives of the Turkish Embassy in Tirana, Turkish institutions and organizations in the country, researchers and students attended the launch of the book written by Prof. Dr. Mustafa İsen and Prof. Dr. Tuba Durmuş.
Ahmet Türkben, Board Member of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, said in his speech here that they operate in 67 countries as an institution and that they carry out their work as Turkey’s gateway to the world in the international arena of education.
Türkben expressed that he found it valuable that this activity was organized at UNYT, which is “special and unique” for them, and emphasized that the Balkans is a very valuable geography for Turkey in terms of unity in many areas.
Türkben stated that the book History of Turkish Literature in the Balkans is very valuable.
Metin Bulut, Education Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Tirana, also expressed his pleasure in being a part of such an important initiative.
Bulut said, “This beautiful work will create a serious integration opportunity for our heart geography. I would like to emphasize that you have made a very serious contribution to both our public diplomacy and our activities in the heart geography here, and that you have provided a very serious service.”
UNYT Balkan Studies Center Representative Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lindita Xhanari Latifi noted that the Balkans is a place with a rich cultural and literary history, and Turkish literature is also included in this history.
Stating that the authors carefully reveal and analyze the journey of Turkish literature in the Balkans in the book, Latifi said, “The authors bring a new dimension and a more comprehensive overview to the history of Turkish literature in the Balkans by using archive sources.”
