Under the sounds of the American anthem and in a ceremony where messages of gratitude were conveyed, the US flag was raised on Saturday in the courtyard of the “Professor Doktor Bedri Kamberi” Mosque in Pristina. The imam of this mosque, Labinot Maliqi, described this gesture as an expression of the gratitude of the people of Kosovo for what the United States has done for the country.
“Today, through this modest but very meaningful ceremony, we put this very lesson into practice. We give thanks to a great friend, not forgetting that the source of all goodness is from the glorified God and that to Him belongs the highest thanks. Therefore, today, from the courtyard of this mosque in Pristina, we say with respect, with heart and gratitude: Thank you, America! Thanks for the lasting friendship! Thank you for your unwavering support! Thank you for the historic contribution to the freedom, peace and state building of the Republic of Kosovo!“, declared Maliqi.
Among other things, Maliqi said that one of the main pillars on which the United States was built is freedom of belief and conscience.
“One of the most precious values on which America was built is freedom of religion and conscience. Its founders understood that faith cannot be imposed by force and that man must be free to seek the truth with conviction, reason and conscience. As a people who have experienced war, injustice and lack of freedom, we know better how expensive freedom is and how much a true friend is worth in the hardest days“, he said.
The raising of the American flag in the courtyard of the “Professor Doktor Bedri Kamberi” mosque on the USA Independence Day has already become a tradition, as this is the fourth year that this flag has been flown there.
