The decision of 6 LDK deputies who oppose the agreement for the president, the chairman of Vetëvendosje Movement Albin Kurti describes as a heavy blow, although he insists that the political pact continues to be valid.
“The political agreement we reached has taken a heavy blow, but it has not been devalued. It is a great success of our two political entities and those who want institutional stability, avoiding elections, strengthening the state have the chance”. Kurt said.
Kurti emphasized to Ekonomia Online that a concrete name has emerged from the political agreement with the LDK as a candidate for president, refusing to say if there will be any other name.
“And this is the proper name that came out of the political agreement, namely Professor Bekim Sejdiu”, he emphasized.
Even after Wednesday’s meeting with the head of the LDK and some MPs from the non-majority communities, Kurti was optimistic about finding a solution, but the same enthusiasm did not come from Lumir Abdixhiku, who said that his prediction was that the country is heading for new elections, as it is not the right number of votes to move forward with the process of electing a new head of state.
Meanwhile, PDK and AAK, continuing the protest in front of the government headquarters and in the Parliament, again accused Kurti of blocking the operation of the state for his own interests.
