The over two-hour meeting between the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, and the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, held in the Assembly of Kosovo after the failure to secure full support for the presidential candidate, Bekim Sejdiu, has ended.
However, Abdixhiku spoke briefly to the journalists present, stressing that the meeting was a regular announcement after recent developments.
“I informed Mr. Kurti, and he informed me about the developments in his presidency and the parliamentary group,” Abdixhiku said, adding that those who, according to him, have placed the country in an uncertain phase, should be asked about the next steps.
After the meeting closed, Kurti left without declaring, to continue with another meeting with the representatives of the non-Serb minorities.
Meanwhile, Abdixhiku has emphasized that the numerical situation in the Assembly does not allow the election of the new president without wider support.
“It was a regular announcement following recent developments. We have officially notified each other about the developments in the party, as it is in the regulations. For the next step, you should ask those who want to take Kosovo to an uncertain stage. The numerical situation in the Assembly is what it is. I have tried to find a solution, but the distancing of other parties is leading Kosovo to new elections. Any party is welcome to help in this situation. We are in a numerically impossible situation to elect a new president,” said Abdixhiku.
