The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu and the Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti started the Liberation Day with tributes at the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz, where they emphasized that the road to the freedom of Kosovo is closely related to the sacrifice and endurance of the Jashari family during March 1998.
“They didn’t just protect the threshold of the house, they protected the land of our ancestors that was, is and will always be Albanians. They protected the idea that our people are never defeated. Their sacrifice became the foundation on which stood the Kosovo Liberation Army and our free Republic. Therefore, every joy of this holiday begins right here, next to these graves. The freedom we enjoy today is their legacy”, said Albulena Haxhiu, acting President.
“Just like every year, this year on June 12 we come here as the head of the institutions in Prekaz, in this capital of the contemporary uprising of the Albanian people…. remembering and commemorating the sacrifice of the Jashars, we best stay loyal to liberation and emancipation, independence and union, development and progress. Glory to the Jashars and all the nation’s martyrs”, said acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
On June 12, Kosovo marks the 27th anniversary of the entry of NATO forces and the liberation of the country, one of the most important dates in its history.
