That’s Putin’s peace plan, to destroy everything, Zelensky said about the massive Russian attack

Zelenskyy again called on world leaders to respond to Friday’s massive attack by providing Ukraine with modern air defense systems, especially Patriot systems, to effectively intercept missiles. He also drew attention to the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia in order to limit its ability to produce weapons.

According to Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin “is not limited either in range or in the purchase of the necessary components for the production of missiles” when attacking Ukraine. “Oil gives Putin enough money to believe in his own impunity. A strong reaction from the world is needed: A massive blow must come with a massive reaction. It is the only way to stop terror,” said Zelenskyy, according to the newspaper Ukrainska pravda.

Friday’s Russian strike was aimed at the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, an air alert was announced throughout the country. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that rockets and drones were moving towards western Ukraine through the Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Cherkasy and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. The Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down, among other things, 81 rockets, including 11 guided missiles eliminated thanks to F-16 fighters.

In this context, the Ukrainian media recalled that, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Russia “fully supports” the initiative of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. This concerns “the big pre-Christmas exchange of prisoners and the Christmas truce”. In response to Orbán’s proposal, Kyiv stated that the Hungarian side did not discuss anything of the kind with him, and emphasized that it is impossible to discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine without Ukraine.

Just a few hours before the publication of Orbán’s peace plan, the US warned against the next launch of the Russian Oresnik ballistic missile into Ukraine. “Most likely, there will be another attempt by Russia to terrorize Ukraine,” said a Reuters source.

Russia used this ballistic missile in the second half of November, when it hit the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. At the time, Putin claimed that the mass use of hazelnuts was equivalent to the use of nuclear weapons. Later he even declared that the Orešnik missile system minimizes the need to use nuclear weapons.

“In short and well, now we do not need to improve the nuclear doctrine, but Orešnik, because if you look at it, a sufficient number of these modern systems simply puts us on the border of practically not needing to use nuclear weapons,” Putin said at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil society and human rights in Russia.
